Chapter Books
The list below is chapter books for elementary from beginners to advance avid readers. I am sharing with you what my kids are reading for our homsechooling. Is there the best or perfect list? I am not sure because it depends on each child’s taste. You have to test it first and make that decision for your child. Or let’s him or her tell you.
Beginner Chapter Books
My five-year-old daughter is exciting about reading chapter books. However, we are still working on her comprehension. She still needs pictures and big letters. Chapter books for this levels are not really a chapter book but likes the introduction to chapter books, less pictures and more words with new vocabularies.
These are her favorites.
Chapter Books
I was clueless about which books for my son to read. The only one thing I was sure of and knew deep down was that I want to move my son to the next level of reading. The books I was looking for were the less pictures the better. My son was easily distracted. He could sit there for a long time just by staring at pictures. And most of the time, he looked at the pictures and guested instead of reading.
I asked librarians, researched online from other experienced moms, watched Youtube, searched on Amazon for Teacher’s pick. I spent days and days just to make one simple decision (didn’t seem simple at all). 🙂 I found a couple good ones based on my research.
Next step was to find out if my son likes it or not. I borrowed one each from the library and read it during our reading aloud time. I was lucky that my son and daughter loved listening to The Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Orsbone right away. It was the first chapter I introduced to my son and slowly guided him from reading it during our reading aloud to him reading it to me 15 minutes everyday. And now he is on his own reading 4 chapters each day or more and then reports to me of what he reads
