The Ultimate Homeschool Supply List
One thing I want to do at the beginning of my homeschool journey is not over buying. Until now I still try not to buy too much. I didn’t even go to shop during back-to-school time.
I only buy what I need. I am doing the same thing with curriculums.
I taught my daughter how to read at the age of four without spending hundreds of dollars on any curriculum. I used one simple reading book with a couple flash cards and a lot of library books. You can check out my Homeschool Kindergarten Book List.
This year, I added a couple supplies and organizers into our homeschool that are not mandatory but helped my day move smoother and more well organized.
The place I like to shop the most are Amazon because it saves me time and easy to return. My trick is I always look for things that comes with free-return offers.
List below is current stuff that I am using and find they are useful and absolutely can’t live without.
Whiteboard: this is new to our homeschool room this year. My kids love it. We have been using it every day since we got it.
This whiteboard is on wheels, so we move it out during school days, and tug it in the corner during the weekend. I love the fact that I can move it to the kitchen, anywhere in the house if we need to.
This white board give my kids the opportunities moving around which is good for them, especially with active kids.
Organized cart: It is the best thing I invested in homeschooling. Last year, I had to carry books back and forth to my upstairs-home-office on the weekends, so I could have the quiet moment to prepare for the school weeks.
My teaching books were in 2 different locations. I have to go back and forth.
Not this year! These carts are so helpful. Everything I need for teaching is in one cart. I can move them anywhere I want, and it doesn’t hurt my back anymore.
Bookshelf: I think bookshelf must be the first one to be bought because it helps to keep things in place. I don’t need a dedicated room for homeschooling, but I definitely need a place to separate teaching books and kids reading books.
Folding table & chairs: we don’t use our dining table for study. My kids don’t like to sit there because it is too tall for them.
You can buy these tables from Costco or Amazon. I like to go to Costco because I can see the product and choose the ones I like.
I like these folding tables because we can use them for house party and picnic. I am also able to move my classroom outside on nice weather days. And kids love it.
6-case scrapbook cart: I have a 4-year-old Kindergarten. She likes to have her own things. So I use my scrapbook cart I have at home. And somehow it works perfectly for her.
I also bought the color one to organize Lego when my son just started out with Lego. I reuse this cart for holding their color papers, paints, brushes, and papers.
Iris Storage box: I bought these for organizing my shoes. But now I use them for organizing toys and learning games.
I also use them to keep books by levels.
Laser Printer: I think we all need printers nowadays for many things. It saves so much money in the long run especially if you have more than one kid at home.
Label maker: I have used this label marker since day one. I love labeling things around the house. I find labeling helps my kids to keep things organized because now they know where things go and belong.
Stapler: (don’t forget the staples) I have many different kinds of staplers around the house, but the one I like the most is the electric stapler. They are fast and convenient when you need to stable big stack of papers.
Pencil sharpener: I can’t imagine what to do without pencil sharpener. I have tried couple different ones. And here is on the list that I would rebuy them again.
3-hole Punch: Can’t miss this on the list. I use it all the time. We have couple of them. But the one I love the most is the electronic one.
World Map: It is nice for homeschool room’s decoration (if you have one). We had the big one in our mudroom hallway where my kids love to use it.
I also buy the small to use on the floor during our history time.
Globe: I like this one because it is easy to pull out. And it is very informative. It gives our kids a chance to look at the world the way it is.
Microscope: I bought this before we homeschooled. And now it becomes useful in our homeschool room.
Trampoline/Rebounder: I have this in my homeschool room. It becomes a one of the best choice I made. We use it daily. My son likes bouncing and moving around. He can’t stand still, especially when he does his mental math and memorizing work. He bounces off the sofas and chairs. Since we have this, both my kids love it during and after study time. I also get this mat so it stays and doesn’t mark our hardwood floor.
